Hemp Embassy

Nimbin Hemp Embassy

The HEMP Embassy runs an information centre/ paraphernalia shop in Nimbin all year round to fund our fight against cannabis laws. This is staffed by rostered volunteers who live locally, or are on an extended visit.

If you do not live close enough, there is still an opening. Every year, on the first weekend in May, we have the Nimbin MardiGrass Drug Law Reform Rally. To do this takes lots of volunteers who live locally OR are attending the MardiGrass. We have volunteers from all over the world who come to help make MardiGrass possible, not just stand and watch. It’s fantastic to see. Feel free to come and joint in.

If you ever come to Australia, drop in to the HEMP Embassy in Nimbin. Try to make it coincide with MardiGrass, if u can….otherwise, come anyway, or oppose stupid laws wherever you are, and you will be helping us all…

That is the Norml state of affairs, but if you feel you have special skills that could help the cause, or see a need that isn’t catered to, then communicate and contribute.

Send us your hemp related writings or art!

.

“Prohibition was introduced as a fraud; it has been nursed as a fraud. It is wrapped in the livery of Heaven, but it comes to serve the devil. It comes to regulate by law our appetites and our daily lives. It comes to tear down liberty and build up fanaticism, hypocrisy, and intolerance. It comes to confiscate by legislative decree the property of many of our fellow citizens. It comes to send spies, detectives, and informers into our homes; to have us arrested and carried before courts and condemned to fines and imprisonments. It comes to dissipate the sunlight of happiness, peace, and prosperity in which we are now living and to fill our land with alienations, estrangements, and bitterness. It comes to bring us evil –only evil– and that continually. Let us rise in our might as one and overwhelm it with such indignation that we shall never hear of it again as long as grass grows and water runs.”
Roger Q. Mills of Texas, 1887.

Comment on FB Today the ACT ...

Hey Debbie can you please put these two letters on the voters block group and legalise cannabis Qld much appreciated if it could thank you

Please about time, make medical cannabis legal !! 👍🦘🇳🇿💁‍♂️😍

Pity about QLD Labour On 7 Jul 2020, at 12:18 pm, Barron River Electorate Office <Barron.River@parliament.qld.gov.au> wrote: Hi Debbi, I have been advised of the following from the Minister for Health's office: There are currently no plans to legalise cannabis. The Palaszczuk Government has been working to ensure that medicinal cannabis is as accessible as possible. Medicinal cannabis products are regulated as medicines in Australia under both state legislation and the Commonwealth's Therapeutic Goods Act 1989. Any prescribing by a medical practitioner must also meet the requirements for quality and access to medicines imposed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration. However we have made some amendments to laws that make it easier for people to access medicinal cannabis. Following the repeal of the Public Health (Medicinal Cannabis) Act 2016, most Queensland specific approvals such as those for specialist medical practitioners (including specialist general practitioners), clinical trials and dispensing were to be removed. Medicinal cannabis is instead dealt with under the Health (Drugs and Poisons) Regulation. Under the HDPR, medicinal cannabis will be treated the same as other controlled drugs (schedule 8 medicines) or restricted drugs (schedule 4), depending on their composition. This change became effective on 1 July 2019. Following further streamlining reforms that passed the Queensland Parliament on 17 September 2019, medical practitioners (including non-specialists) will now be able to prescribe medicinal cannabis in the same way as other practitioners. This was part of a larger suite of reforms to the regulation of medicines and poisons and is anticipated to come into effect on 1 July 2020. However, any use of cannabis outside of any current or proposed State regulatory framework and the uses authorised by the Commonwealth legislation, will remain illegal. Information on accessing medicinal cannabis in Queensland is found here aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.qld.gov.au%2Fhealth%2Fconditions%2Fa.... It should also be noted that we do not regulate the cost of medicinal cannabis products, these products are expensive at the moment because the Commonwealth has not put them on the PBS and because of a shortage of supply as it is a relatively new industry. I hope this helps, Susan Lear Electorate Officer Office of Hon Craig Crawford MP Member for Barron River Minister for Fire and Emergency Services

The NZ Drug Foundation is backing a ‘Yes’ vote - find out why here.

We’ll be voting on the Government’s Cannabis Legalisation and Control Bill, which puts regulation in place to minimise the social and health harms of cannabis. The Bill has a special focus on protecting young New Zealanders.

This is the best chance New Zealand has to put public health controls around how we manage cannabis in our country.

I grew up in the country and was sent to boarding school at a young age which I found traumatic.
After discovering Cannabis my migraines miraculously disappeared.
When I moved to Nimbin 35 years ago I discovered it was a refugee camp from the war on drugs.
As I learnt more about this war against a plant that is a fantastic safe medicine my fury knew no bounds at such injustice.
I believe if we are allowed to grow our own supply it can save billions in health costs and help millions enjoy a higher quality of life.

Trichomes, from the Greek meaning ‘growth of hair,’ act as an evolutionary shield, protecting the plant and its seeds from the dangers of its environment, allowing it to reproduce. These adhesive sprouts form a protective layer against offensive insects, preventing them from reaching the surface of the plant. #justlegaliseit

The chemicals in the trichomes make cannabis less palatable to hungry animals and can inhibit the growth of some types of fungus. The resin also helps to insulate the plant from high wind and low humidity, and acts as a natural ‘sun-screen’ in protecting against UV-B light rays.

But since trichomes contain euphoric properties attractive to humans, it may be man who has had the most influence on the plants’ development through many years of favoring strains that consistently produce more of these gooey resin heads.

This could be yours and grown in your own backyard for you and your family's health and well-being. Cannabis is medicinal but the law says that growing it at home is a crime. So you have to pay for expensive pharmaceutical drugs that are not as good and definitely not as natural as a herb.

We need to grow our own legal medicine, at least six plants each for adults over 18, and in our own backyard.

Aussies can safely vote for legal Cannabis in this election. At the polling booth you can privately make a mark for the plant that should never have been made illegal.

There are a couple of million Aussie voters who enjoy Cannabis regularly and they are not real criminals. #ausvotes #justlegaliseit

Roadside Drug Testing, is a nightmare for Cannabis users and the police know it, they are targeting places like Nimbin. How can we possibly introduce a meaningful medical Cannabis program in Australia while no one can drive for days after using the herb?

In fact THC stays in your system for weeks if not months, unlike all other drugs. Testing for merely the presence of Cannabis is ridiculously unfair, it should be about driver impairment.

Imagine if you weren’t allowed to drive if you use pharmaceutical pills?

Along with sniffer dogs RDT has dramatically altered drug trends in the country. Pot is out and pills are in thanks to our drug policies. Cannabis has never killed anyone in ten thousand years of use and needs to be separated and treated completely differently to the other illegal drugs.

We need to be allowed to grow our own medicine, at least six plants each for adults over 18, and in our own backyard. Cannabis law changes are spreading overseas like wildfire yet here we keep building new jails and our arrest rates continue the same.

HEMP Party: Better Cannabis - Better Cannabis legislation will improve our health, nutrition, policing and the annual budget.

Cannabis Prohibition has been a total failure and we have to stop strategies like sniffer dogs, Roadside Drug Testing and laws that have dramatically altered drug use trends in favour of undetectable powders, pills and expensive addictive pharmaceuticals.

Aussies can safely vote for legal Cannabis in this election and no one will know, you won't lose your job.
