Elijah Ray

Elijah Ray

Elijah is not (yet) a resident of the Byron Bay area, but as a recent frequent visitor who seems to have a mutual love affair with the local community, we feel it is appropriate to include him in ByronNow. Catch one of his local gigs if you can, we promise it will be an awesome experience! – NEXT LOCAL GIG is Friday the 28th of April at Mullum Civic Hall. Checkout the FB Event page here

The following is from his FB page About section.

A prodigious composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist, recording artist and spiritual teacher, Elijah Ray is known for his pioneering heart and transformational music that crosses a wide scope of genres…from funky, danceable tunes and soul-moving ballads, to sound healing and emotionally evocative soundtracks. His shining presence, gritty soul, and message of love invite the listener into an experience of what it is to be an awakening human. His spiritual messages of authenticity and the power of community have transformed audiences internationally, and many are calling his music the “soundtrack of the awakening.” Both mystical and raw, Elijah’s charisma and musical prowess draws his audience into life’s nectar–spiritual, sexy, sweaty, gritty, and ecstatic. Elijah has single handedly crafted a full band sound on most of his “Band of Light” albums, playing most of the instruments and arranging many of the tracks himself. He has also mastered the art of solo touring–a troubadour with his guitar, vocal repertoire of percussion, horns, and bass, and a loop pedal, crafting everything from hip-hop to pop to soul.

Over the past 13 years, Elijah has played and collaborated with countless acclaimed artists and musicians. A few of which he’s shared the stage with are: Jesse Carmichael (Maroon 5) Graham Nash, Andre Manga (Paul Simon) Ben Stiller, Donovon Frankenreiter, G Love, Brett Dennon, Bushwalla, the Luminaries, Tina Malia, Youssouphe Sidibe, Tubby Love, Jay ‘Bird” Koder, Michael Ruff, and many more.

Elijah has been featured in documentaries such as Indigo Evolution, and Living in Light, alongside such luminaries as Neale Donald Walsh, Dr. Matsuro Emoto, Doreen Virtue, Gangaji, Eli Jaxson-Bear and Panache Desai. He has cultivated an international community, www.bandoflight.ning, and plans to continue touring internationally, offering full scale concerts, sound healing sessions and workshops, soul coaching programs, and community events the world over.

Vibration is at the core of all life. The miraculous phenomenon of sound and music has played a key role in our human experience throughout the ages.

I am fascinated by how music can inspire us, give us strength and courage and dispel the illusion of being separate from nature and one another. Sound has the power to alleviate physical pain, shift emotional and psychological states and re-align us with our natural frequency, bringing about healing, harmony and connection.

My work and service is to help you ‘tune in’ and support you on your journey. Whether facilitating a sound healing session, composing, recording, producing or performing on stage.

I currently live in the lush Byron Bay hinterland where I also record and produce the work of other artists – helping them bring their music to life! I perform with my band Hamsa at private events around Australia.

Music helps me share what I cannot express with words. During my travels my love affair with music grew and I spent endless nights playing and singing my heart out, eventually performing and touring internationally. This taught me that music is a universal language that can bridge cultural divides and bring people together in harmony, unity and open hearts.

Inspired by ancient and mystic wisdom, as well as contemporary scientific research regarding the power of sound and its therapeutical effects, I began to understand that we are ultimately vibrational beings by nature and are constantly affected by our environment.

In 1990, I started exploring different aspects of sound and its uses for physical & emotional transformation and healing. I now facilitate group and individual sound healing sessions – applying different techniques of voice work and vibrational therapy to help inspire, alleviate pain, stress and anxiety and give people support on their healing journey. Through the years I have worked with people with cancer, various addictions, anxiety and stress related conditions.
