Nancy Stark Smith died this week aged 68. She leaves behind a huge life of dance that covered most of the world and influenced and touched so many. Some of us were lucky enough to have been in her workshops others got her work as it passed between colleagues and influenced Contact Improvisation Festivals all over the globe. Such an amazing legacy and wisdom moves through so many of us now thanks to her passion and path in life. I private dance with candles and Philip Glass playing in gratitude and love. ... Hi Dancers, There is no Jam this week or any other week in our St Martins Hall, Mullumbimby as it is closed until further notice.
There are other options including moving outside following a score in your own space, connecting to nature, knowing that others are practicing at the same time...
There are also different people offering classes and moving experiences over the internet from all over the world. They are not so hard to find if you go looking...
remember the world is your oyster
Stay safe look after each other & enjoy the small things. ... Read MoreSee Less
Moment by moment, day by day week by week... This Saturday 11-1pm invitation to practice the "Underscore" and hold space together to practice the score as an "out of contact" Improvisation.
If you are interested please read on.
We have our hall with beautiful grounds outside that we can extend into and use. It will extend some of us to practice in this way, I hope you will be curious as that is all you need, curiosity and your senses and a willingness to participate. If you have never practiced the underscore you need to read a bit, even if you have you may want to deepen what you think you know about each phase. It will help the Saturday Jam if we all arrive on time, if you come late and miss "the arriving" you know what to do just join the practice. Remembering that this is non contact underscore
A lot of groups around the world are doing stuff on line these days. This Sat if you feel to try this Improvisation together, please take care and be respectful. Magic still happens at a distance.
Please don't come if you are unwell, please wash your hands before starting. Contribution for the Jam space is $10/$8
